  THANK GOD FOR CHILDREN

Some of you might remember Fred Rogers of Mister Rogers’ neighborhood.  His gentle care for children and teaching style made his television show a must to see for both parents and children.  One of his lessons was to help the children see beyond the barriers we set between God and ourselves.  Mr. Rogers showed again and again how to see others with childlike faith and grace.
One of Mr. Rogers’ favorite stories to tell was about a little four year old boy whose mother and dad had just brought home a baby sister.  The little boy pleaded with his parents to be allowed to have some private time with the new baby.  Well, as you can image, the mother and dad were concerned. They even thought that he might be planning to hurt the baby.  Finally, he got permission and walked into the baby’s room.  The mother and father, just to be on the safe side, stayed near the door.  The little boy bent over the baby and said, “Tell me what it was like, I’m beginning to forget.”
The week of July 10-14 provided this fellowship with an opportunity to teach, play, sing, and learn from God’s Word.  This well-planned and effective Vacation Bible School brought inspiration to everyone who participated because of the children who gave it life.  Through this faith building experience, we added “salt” to the community where we minister.  All this would not have been possible without the capable leadership of Missy Appleby and Laurie Beltz along with many other committed helpers.  Thank You!
Sometimes as life goes on, we as adults forget what it was like to encounter God as a child.  Jesus said it well: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”  Matthew 18:3
