Merry Christmas! May you remember the reason we celebrate Christmas.
As you can imagine our Christmas season goes fast here at Good Shepherd. We start off the month with all day sessions for each class. It’s a great way to get them ready for Kindergarten. We are busy making ornaments and practicing for our Christmas program.
We also take a special trip to the SASD Middle school to join with the 6th graders writing letters to Santa. We’ve enjoyed this special trip for several years. (See details below)
So with all the extra activities we complete, we only learn one new letter this month. The letter is J. And Ms. J has a jingle jingle jacket. She is jumping for joy to share her jingle bells, and we learn all about sound from her.
We have the color day of GREEN on December 6th. If you have something green, it is a great idea to wear it.
We have added a new special day this year Gingerbread man day is on December 7th. We cannot wait to have a fun day acting out The Gingerbread Man story, making special crafts, maybe even some that we can eat.
We have our daily Bible stories and lead up to the birth of Jesus and the 3 wise men who visited Him. Bible verse: “You are the light of the world.”
ØAnnual Mom’s day out:
AM Mom’s day out will be held on Wed, Nov.30th. PM will be Thurs. Dec. 1st. Friday, Dec 2nd will be a regular school day.. The children will come from 9:30-2:30. Your child will need a pillow, blanket and a lunch. You can use this time for wrapping, shopping or just relaxing. We will use this time to finish presents and practice our play. We will also relax and watch a movie. If for some reason, you feel that this is too long of a day for your child, let us know and we will work with you.
ØChristmas Party Tuesday, Dec 20th. There will be a sign up posted as you come in door! If you have signed up for the last 2 parties, please wait a few days to give some other parents a chance to sign up. If after a few days, there are still open spaces, please feel free to sign up. We appreciate your generosity in providing treats for our celebrations, however the sign up lists are created from past experience of how much the children will truly eat. We are asking that food provided be limited to what is on the lists. If you still feel that you want to send something, a cubby treat is welcome. If you are planning to come back for the party, come back around 10:45/2:15. You know who will arrive @ 11:00/2:30.
ØChristmas program: Tuesday, Dec 21st. Note adjusted opening on calendar. For AM: Doors will open at 9:15 and program will begin at 9:30. PM is doors open at 11:45 and program at 12:00. This is when parents AND children should arrive.
ØField trips: On Dec. 13th, the 4 year old class will visit Mrs. Funk’s classroom at the Shippensburg Middle School. They will pair up with a student and compose a letter to Santa. The AM class will come to school at the usual time and we will leave at 9:50. You will then pick up your child at the Middle school at 11:15. The PM class will meet there at 12:15. We will leave to return to Preschool at approx. 1:20. We will need drivers for this trip. We will post a sign up for this. REMINDER: Every child needs an approved safety seat to go. If you are not transporting your child, please leave a seat!
Don’t forget your Scholastic book order! The children enjoy the books that we read to them and every month there are $1 books in the flyer. Check it out and encourage your child to read. Books make great gifts and stocking stuffers! If you need your order bagged, let us know. Activation code for 4 yr old class: GVK6N

Christmas vacation: Thursday December 22nd- Monday, January 2nd.
School will resume on Tuesday, January, 3rd. There will be school on Thursday, January 5th. (Make up for Monday)
